Our Mission

The Howe Sound Women's Centre Society promotes women's equality and empowerment.
We work from a feminist perspective. This means: supporting women and honouring the diversity of their lives; and responding to, and working for change.
We belive that this work contributes to the well being of the whole community.

Main Purpose of Our Organization

Promoting communication among women of varying ages, ethnic backgrounds, and geographical area within the Sea to Sky Corridor. Facilitating understanding of the position of women in society with a view to promoting social change within the community. Encouraging unified action to provide increased education, training and employment opportunities for women. Provide mutual support for the common problems of women in an industrial, rural setting.

At the Women's Centre

Information, referrals and support by telephone or on a drop-in basis
Library of books, pamphlets, quarterly newsletters, and videos concerning women's issues
Opportunity to meet and share ideas with a network of women from diverse backgrounds
Advocacy - including Legal, Welfare, Disability and Human Rights issues.
