Howe Sound Women's Centre is Pleased to Offer...

Programs and Services offered by the Howe Sound Women's Centre

In addition to information, referrals, and support by telephone or on a drop-in basis (Drop In Centre located at 38021 Third Ave, Squamish BC), HSWC is pleased to offer the following programs free of charge:


Pearl's Place Transition House:

Housing in a safe and secure environment for women and their children leaving an abusive relationship. Women and children can stay up to thirty days.  Safe Housing in the northern Sea to Sky area is also available at Pearl's Safe Home; the stay at Pearl's Safe Home is for up to 10 days. 


Children's Program:

For children and adolescents who have experienced serious family conflicts (such as abuse of their mother).  A counsellor can be reached at 604-892-5748 in Squamish and 604-935-8534 in Whistler. 

Pearl's 2nd's:

Check out our recently renovated Pearl's Value and Vintage. The most eclectic thrift store in Squamish is operated with the help of volunteers; with all proceeds going towards the Howe Sound Women's Centre's programming. We are located at 38128 Cleveland Ave. and are open Monday to Saturday 10 am - 4 pm, Fridays 10am to 6pm.  Please feel free to drop gently used household goods and clothing to the store during operating hours.  No baby furniture, please!

Multi-Cultural Outreach Program:

MOS provide services and support to women--this includes immigrant women, refugee women, women of colour and aboriginal women.  This program is guided by the principles that put women's safety first, respects the rights of women to make choices and decisions based on their understanding of their needs and respects her perspective and individual situation.  This group meets every Wednesday from 6pm to 8 pm.  Coffee, tea and snacks provided.  English classes available. Free of charge.

H.E.A.R.T.:

Healing emotions and relationships together is offered through the Program Counsellor at Signal Hill Elemantary School in Pemberton.  The Counsellor can be reached at 604-905-8358 (c)

First Nation's Outreach Worker Program:

We provide services and support to women who are experiencing violence in their intimate relationships with a focus on the lived  realities of the women of the N'Quatqua, Mount Currie, Squamish, Skatin, Douglas and Samahquam Nations. Our crisis number is 604-892-5711 or toll free 1 877 890-5711

S.A.F.F.E. PROJECT:

Sea to Sky Adolescents Freedom from Exploitation Project has chosen to define sexual exploitation as:  Any sexual activity given in exchange for food, shelter, cigarettes, money, drugs, alcohol, or approval.  The exploiter is usually in a position of power and profits economically or physically from the exchange.  Contact: saffeproject@hswc.ca.

Free Legal Clinic:

We offer a free 1/2 hour consultation with a lawyer at the Howe Sound Women's Centre.  To book an appointment call HSWC at 604 892-5748.

Yoga:

Drop in yoga is held on Thursday mornings from 9:15 am to 10:15 am at the Yoga Studio 37776 2nd Ave, Squamish.  Feel free to come to the women's centre after your yoga session for coffee and snacks!

Brennan Park Concession:

The HSWC has recently taken over the Concession at the Brennan Park Arena. The revenue generated from this program will be used to help fund existing programs at the centre and also help women gain valuable employment skills.

Wed & Thurs: 3 - 9pm

Friday: 3 - 10pm

saturday: 8am - 8pm

sunday: 10am - 7pm

Closed Monday and Tuesday with the exception of boxing day - open 12-4
